Do you utilize mulch in the garden? If you do that’s great! If you don’t, you should consider adding mulch to the garden, as there are many benefits. Benefits of mulch include preserving moisture, reducing weed pressure and erosion. These are great reasons to incorporate mulch in the garden! The big question is what type of mulch to utilize?

Polar awards scholarships to area students

Named after Polar’s first general manager, the John G. Walters Scholarship of $2,000 each is being awarded to 15 graduating high school seniors who plan on continuing their education at an accredited 2-year or 4-year college/university or vocational-technical school. Recipients’ parents or guardians are full-time residents in the Polar Communications and Subsidiaries service area and have a phone or Internet service account. Along with an application, students were asked to submit an essay answering, “What field or major do you intend to enter, and how might it impact your rural community?”

4-H Communication Arts Competition hosted

The 2025 Pembina County 4-H Communication Arts was held Friday, April 25 at the North Border School in Pembina. There were 31 different presentations in this public speaking contest from 28 4-H youth representing five different Pembina County 4-H clubs. Family and friends were also able to be a part of the experience.
