As North Dakota heads into the 2026 legislative election cycle, contested races are more common across the state; District 15 is one example. Incumbent Republicans Sen. Kent Weston (Sarles) and Reps. Legion to host Mother’s Day breakfast American Legion Post No. 98 will host a Mother’s Day breakfast on Saturday, May 10, 2026, at the Legion building in Langdon. The menu will include Langdon locker sausage, pancakes, scrambled eggs, and juice or coffee. Serving will run from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. A freewill donation will be collected.

City of Langdon announces 2026 Clean-Up Week

The City of Langdon will hold its annual Clean-Up Week May 18–21 for households within city limits. Residents will have two options to dispose of unwanted items during the week: Option 1 allows residents to bring items to the transfer station on Tuesday, May 19, or Thursday, May 21, from 1 to 4:30 p.m. A variety of large household items will be accepted free of charge, including appliances, furniture, carpet, mattresses, metal, wood, and grills. A limit of one pickup load per household will be accepted for the week. Additional loads may be subject to a fee. Certain items, including e-waste and electronics, light ballasts, tires, oil filters, and fluorescent bulbs (not broken), will require a fee.

With a vote of 224-200, the House farm bill has passed. Lawmakers removed three controversial pesticide labeling provisions, seen as a win for the “Make America Healthy Again” coalition. The bill also eliminates the emissions mandate for farm equipment and includes a fix for California’s Proposition 12 initiative. The House overwhelmingly rejected an attempt to drop the USDA mandate for electronic identification of cattle and bison for interstate movement.
