First West Nile virus case reported in North Dakota

The North Dakota Department of Health and Human Services has confirmed the state’s first human case of West Nile virus this season. The Cass County resident was hospitalized.

Mosquito pools in Cass, Grand Forks, Richland, Ward and Williams counties have tested positive for the virus. An animal in Sioux County and a bird in Richland County have also tested positive.
