A brief status conference was held Sept. 10 in Cavalier County in the case against 34-year-old Russell Andrew Hiltner. Hiltner was arrested in March and charged with murder, theft and terrorizing. The Sept. 10 proceeding was originally scheduled to be his preliminary hearing. However, Hiltner waived his right to the hearing in late August and pleaded not guilty to the charges.
