A celebration of life was held May 30, 2026, in Silverdale, Wash., for Ursula Marie Hermanson, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully in Bremerton, Washington, on March 13, 2026, at the age of 86. She left this world as she lived—on her own terms with quiet strength and grace.

Born on August 15, 1939, in Olga, N.D., to Leona and Harvey Benoit, Ursula grew up on her family’s farm alongside her siblings: Lenore, Ione, and Cleo. She graduated from high school in Langdon, N.D., before moving to Fargo, where she worked at a local bank and met her future husband, Kenneth Hermanson. The two married on December 21, 1964, beginning a lifelong partnership. In 1968, Ursula and Ken moved west to Bellevue, Wash., and later settled in Silverdale, Wash., in 1974. There they joined Silverdale Lutheran Church and built a welcoming home filled with warmth and hospitality. Ursula’s legendary Sunday brunches and open kitchen became hallmarks of her love for community.

A dedicated mother to Troy, Jay, and Sara, Ursula later found her calling working in schools. She served as the office administrator at Brownsville Elementary for over two decades, where she was affectionately known as “Miss Ursula.” Her steady presence left a lasting impact on countless students and colleagues. After retiring in 2006, Ursula embraced travel and adventure. She explored destinations around the world while nurturing her love for gardening and creating spaces for family gatherings. In her later years, she became an active member of the Crista Shores community in Silverdale. Ursula will be remembered for her strength, kindness and unwavering hospitality. Her legacy lives on in her children; six grandchildren: Jane, Eli, Jack, Isaac, Hanna and Cooper, and the many lives she touched.

Donations may be made in Ursula's memory to Silverdale Lutheran Church, the Alzheimer’s Association- Washington State Chapter, or a local hospice care organization of the donor’s choice. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew her.
