Led by his daughter, Emma Field, Team Scrappy recently hosted its first annual free skin check event in Langdon, bringing together local healthcare providers, community partners, and residents for an evening focused on melanoma awareness and prevention.

As Memorial Day approaches, local residents reflect on history, remembrance, and the future of rural cemeteries As Memorial Day approaches and families begin placing flowers and flags at gravesites across the region, many are once again finding themselves drawn to the quiet country cemeteries scattered throughout Cavalier County. Beyond being places of remembrance, local residents say cemeteries also serve as living pieces of community history — preserving the stories of the people who built the area generations ago.

American Legion Post 98 to dedicate new veterans memorial on Memorial Day

Community-funded project honors local veterans and future generations A new veterans memorial now stands proudly in Langdon, honoring the service and sacrifice of veterans from Cavalier County and beyond. Located between the Langdon swimming pool and the elementary school beneath the American flag, the polished black granite memorial was installed May 4 during a cold, snowy, and windy North Dakota day — fitting weather, organizers joked, for a project years in the making.

With the regretful passing of CEO R. Wayne Reid, the Langdon Prairie Health Board of Directors wishes to announce that Todd Christensen has agreed to take on the role of interim CEO. Christensen joined Langdon Prairie Health as chief financial officer in December 2025.

Due to low spring runoff and below- average precipitation, access to adequate, good-quality water will be a challenge for North Dakota ranchers this spring. Many ranchers in the region still depend on surface water sources such as dugouts and stock dams to provide water for grazing livestock.
