Story hour has been really busy. Last week I read “Little Wolf Luke.” The kids loved the pictures. It was such a cute book. We played a dice and drawing game and the kids really enjoyed themselves. They had time at the end to play with the STEM items and enjoyed that too.

NuCara Pharmacy to close in Walhalla

Body
On Tuesday, March 17, employees at NuCara Pharmacy in Walhalla were informed that their doors would be closing on March 26. Walhalla residents will now have to go out of town for their prescriptions or order them through the mail, not necessarily a convenient option when managing chronic illnesses or a sudden sickness. NuCara Pharmacy in Walhalla was a “telepharmacy” meaning there was not a pharmacist in the building but they managed medications via telephone and video communications. A telepharmacy allows patients in rural areas to receive all the services of a traditional retail pharmacy by utilizing a pharmacist at a remote site. Patients use modern audio and visual technology to communicate with their pharmacist. NuCara purchased the Walhalla Prescription Shop in 2021 after Spencer Clairmont’s retirement. The Borderland Press reached out to NuDak Ventures, which owns NuCara Pharmacy and they had no comment at this time. Karla Parkes, ARNPC, Owner of The Little Frontier Clinic in Walhalla, has a supply of antibiotics and steroids to get patients started for purchase at Parkes’ cost. Parkes says she is disappointed in the closure but will do everything possible to make sure her patients are taken care of.
