Funeral services were held Nov. 4, 2025, in Walhalla, N.D., for Eunice A. Bjornstad, 86, of Walhalla, who died on Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2025, at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, N.D.. Burial was in the Hillside Cemetery, Walhalla. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Walhalla Ambulance Service.

Eunice Arlene Loraas was born on June 13, 1939, in Langdon, N.D., to Myrtle and Arthur Loraas. Eunice grew up on a farm outside of Fairdale, surrounded by her seven siblings. She graduated from Fairdale High School then fell in love with and married Donald Bjornstad of Walhalla on July 18, 1959. Eunice graduated from Mayville State with a teaching degree and taught first in a one room schoolhouse and then at Walhalla Elementary.

Eunice was a poet, storyteller, and wordsmith. She loved to travel, to make you laugh and was always up for a game of cards. Eunice was active in her church and the community, serving on the board at Pembilier Nursing Home. Eunice read more books than anyone thought possible.

She is survived by her children: Rodney Bjornstad of Hillsboro, N.D., Paul Bjornstad and Tom (Teresa) Bjornstad, all of Walhalla, Jodi (Nate) Houge of St. Paul, Minn.; grandchildren: Alex, Andrew, Anna (Levi), Martin, Jack, Marley, Elias, Katelyn, and Elsa; siblings: Carolyn Holmlund, Rosalie (Bill) Hiers, Ronnie (Bonnie) Loraas, Edward (Sharon) Loraas, Gordan Loraas; and sister-in-law Evelyn Loraas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donnie; her parents; brothers Ole and Harold; and brother-in-law Jim.
