Gordon Berg

A funeral service was held September 8, 2026, in Langdon, N.D., for Gordon Berg, 90, of Langdon and formerly of Rocklake, N.D., who passed away August 31, 2026, at Maple Manor Care Center in Langdon. Burial was at IOOF Cemetery in Rocklake.

Gordon was born July 4, 1936, in Devils Lake, N.D., to Raymond and Mabel (Johnson) Berg. He grew up in the Rocklake, N.D., area and went to school in Armourdale. He started farming when his father put him on a tractor at the age of 7 and continued farming until he retired. Gordon, at one time, also owned the Hansboro Bar and Hannah Bar. Along with his farming and bar ownership, he was a consignment cattle buyer in N.D. and Montana and owned a fleet of five semi-trucks. His many trips to auctions and dispatching & managing trucks allowed him to meet and visit with people, which he thoroughly enjoyed. He was definitely a people-person. He met so many wonderful people through the years, so his phone was very important to him. It was a thankful lifeline to keep in touch with his many friends and family.

Gordon enjoyed driving his Cadillacs and listening to country music, playing cards, and going to the casino. He was easy to talk with and was always interested in other people’s lives. He was respectful and caring to everyone - be it family, friends, caregivers or even a stranger. He rarely ever complained; even through his many struggles, he still kept going and wanted every minute to count. His many visitors might remember him asking them “What do you know?” and telling them to “Be happy” or to “Take care, old buddy” as they said goodbye after visiting.

Gordon is survived by his daughters: Susan Fay (Lawrence) Crockett of Langdon, N.D., Jane Marie Berg of West Fargo, N.D., Trudy Jo Berg of Surrey, N.D., Charlene Renee Kunnanz (Steve) of Minot, N.D., and Paula Joy Rogahn of Minot, N.D.; grandchildren: Michael, Cherilyn, Ashleigh (Jared), Miranda, Jordan, Spencer, Jessica (Alex), Tanner, Bailee (Jared), Turqoyz (Jess); great-grandchildren: Jase, Halle, Haidyn, Brooks, Carter, Macie, Kellen, McKenna, Kolbe; sister Lynnette Boldt of Minneapolis, Minn.; a niece; nephews; cousins; former wife Joyce McDowell; and many close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Hilma (John) Koester, brotherin- law Duane Boldt, grandson Deon Rogahn, a niece, and a nephew.
