An open house visitation was held October 13, 2026, at the Sarles Fire Department Hall in Sarles, N.D., for Kevin Dale Samuelson, 59, who departed this world on Sunday morning, October 4, 2026, embraced by the love of his family at HIA Heather's House in Fargo, N.D. Burial was at Sarles Cemetery.
Kevin entered life on January 26, 1967, in Cando, N.D., the cherished son of Dale and Janice (Rham) Samuelson. Raised in the close-knit community of Sarles, he graduated with the class of 1985 from Border Central High School, where he thrived in activities like football. A man of many talents, Kevin began farming shortly after graduation, a passion that defined much of his life. His journey took him to NDSSS in Wahpeton, where he earned certification as a diesel mechanic and formed a lifelong bond with his roommate, Allen Schaff. Allen nurtured Kevin's love for flight, guiding him to achieve a pilot's license that he proudly held throughout his life.
In the serendipitous moments of a rain-soaked evening in Warroad, Minn., Kevin met the love of his life, Cathy DuChamp. Their paths crossed at an indoor venue, leading to a story of love and commitment. Married on April 7, 1995, they built a life together on their farm in Sarles, welcoming their beloved son, Brady William Samuelson.
Kevin's life was a tapestry woven with threads of adventure—from Harley- Davidsons to Ford and John Deere tractors. Winters were spent reveling in the warmth of Bull Head City, Arizona, where bowling at Riverside Lanes became a cherished pastime. A master of his craft, Kevin epitomized the spirit of a jack-of-all-trades, tackling repairs and projects with unwavering determination and skill.
Those left to honor his memory include his devoted wife, Cathy, of 31 years; his treasured son, Brady Samuelson, Sarles; parents Dale and Janice Samuelson also of Sarles; sister Kristi and her husband, Randy Helle, of Edmore, ND; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Leonard and Miko Du-Champ of Bremerton, Wash., Jana and Mark Granum of Sioux Falls, S.D., James and Debbie DuChamp of Plummer, Minn., and Candy and Dan Stanley of Bradenton, Fla.; many wonderful nieces and nephews; and uncles Vernon (Deloris) Samuelson, Lyle (Delphine) Samuelson, Ron (Julie) Samuelson and many cousins.
