Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on February 14, 2026, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Langdon, N.D., with visitation starting at 9:30 a.m. for Ted Mikkelsen, 91, of Langdon, who passed away February 7, 2026, at Osnabrock Community Living Center in Osnabrock, N.D.
Theodore John Mikkelsen was born on February 14, 1934, at Mt. Carmel, N.D., to Marvin and Bernadine (Kartes) Mikkelsen. Ted was raised near Mt. Carmel on a farm with his 10 siblings. He began his schooling in Mt. Carmel and finished at St. Alphonsus in Langdon. Ted and Bobbie (Schmickle) were united in marriage in 1966 and had two sons, Dwane and Jame. He farmed near Mt. Carmel until his retirement in 1995.
Ted lived a life grounded in faith, family and the land he loved. A devoted farmer at heart, Ted found his true passion was gardening. He loved working in his gardens, especially picking weeds, or so he claimed and was more than happy to share his produce with anyone. He had a deep love for animals, including his beloved cat, Biggy, and his dog, Charles, who were his constant companions and brought him much joy.
His Catholic faith was a cornerstone of his life. He was a dedicated member of the St. Alphonsus Church and carried his beliefs through quiet strength, compassion and a strong sense of purpose. Those who knew him well remember his steady presence, his love for simple moments, and the pride he took in caring for what mattered most.
Above all, Ted cherished his family.
He is survived by Bobbie Mikkelsen; two sons, Dwane Mikkelsen and Jame (Tara) Mikkelsen; two granddaughters, Jacy (Tommy Knack) and McKenna Mikkelsen; brothers: Wayne (Audrey), Floyd (Betty), Dennis (Gloria) and Merle (Kaye); sisters-in-law: Norma, Bette, and Leota; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Darlene, Joseph, Melford, Gerald, Ronald, Tom, and Dale.
