A beautiful stretch of harvest weather Let’s start this week’s ramblings with the very positive news that we are in the middle of some absolutely primo harvest weather. At least at the time we are typing these words, the forecast for the next 10 days looks nearly perfect to get that crop off and hauled to the bin and/or elevator. Hopefully, this forecast won’t change much, and the beautiful weather will continue. It’s always a good thing when things are positive for our farmers around here, so this is a great start. Here’s to hoping the good times and good vibes continue through September.

Last season was the best in 15 years for North Border Eagles football. North Border went a perfect 9-0 in the regular season and earned their first region football title since 2009 before falling to Cavalier in the playoffs. As good as last season was, the Eagles are hoping for more of the same this year. They lost just one player to graduation in All-State quarterback Grant Cosley. Everyone else is back this year, and North Border will field a deep and talented squad.

Lost from graduation from last year's squad are Cody Amble, who was the Region 2A Senior Athlete of the Year and an All-State wide receiver, plus All-Region players Jayden Lee, Jacob Lowery and Reed Scherr, plus Jake Sanders.

The Friday Night Lights are here As most of readers take these words in, we are ready for opening night of the 2025 high school football season. It always seems early when the gridiron games get underway, but I guess Aug. 22 feels right for this year.
