A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 31, at 11:00 a.m. at La Casa de Cristo Lutheran Church located at 6300 E. Bell Road in Scottsdale, Ariz., with a reception to follow for Gordon Ehrhardt Magoon, 81, of Phoenix, Ariz., who passed away on Dec. 8, 2025.

Gordon was born in Langdon, N.D., to Gordon W. Magoon and Minnie Ehrhardt Magoon. He served honorably in the North Dakota National Guard from 1966 to 1972. He earned a degree in civil engineering and spent his career working for state highway departments and as a building inspector for the city of Scottsdale. He also designed and built more than 100 homes in Minnesota and Ariz. before retiring in 2006.

A devoted member of La Casa de Cristo Lutheran Church and the Pinnacle Peak Lion’s Club, Gordon enjoyed woodworking, photography, designing homes, and attending car shows. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, creativity, generosity, and devotion to his family and community. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mavis Magoon; his son, Brian Magoon, and daughter-in-law Mindy Magoon; his daughter, Jennifer Gilmore, and son-in-law William Gilmore; his grandchildren: Rebecca, Brandi (Chase) Goss, Averee, Kenna, Michael, Christian, and Haylee; his great-grandchildren: Easton, Kayce, and Bryson; his cousin, Ann (Carl) Tolleson; and his dear friend, Bill Krone.
