The Winnipeg Jets skated to a 3–1 victory over the St. Louis Blues on Jan. 20 in an NHL regular-season matchup at Canada Life Centre, but the final score was only part of the night’s story. Following the win, Jets defenseman Josh Morrissey (#44) was named Player of the Game. As the crowd celebrated, Morrissey took a moment to create a memory that will last a lifetime for one fan. Carrying his game-used hockey stick, labeled “Winnipeg Jets Hockey Club,” Morrissey skated toward the glass and spotted Lance Waters III of Walhalla and his dad, Lance Waters II. Morrissey lifted the stick over the glass and got it to the younger Waters, who was overcome with excitement. The gesture drew cheers from the crowd and capped off an already exciting night at the rink - turning a regular- season win into an unforgettable experience - especially meaningful since Lance III brought his dad to the game to celebrate his birthday.
