Blades 19U girls lose close game to Watford City,

It was a full day of hockey when the Langdon Blades boys Junior Gold and 19U girls teams played a double header at Dakota Spirit Arena on Jan. 17. The Blades boys got a 7-5 win over the Grand Forks Stallions, while the girls played well but lost to Watford City, 5-2. Langdon is now 5-2 in the North Dakota Junior Gold standings. Due to injuries, the Blades moved their Junior Gold game at Grand Forks from Jan. 24 to now Feb. 19. The Blades girls have two home games this weekend, hosting Hazen-Beulah on Jan. 24 and Bottineau-Rugby on Jan. 25; both game times are at 11 a.m.

Nervous Breakdown Season (AKA, the month of January) is nearing its end By Jake Kulland, Sports Editor It's been a fast and furious month of January sports and activities for our area, but that is coming to an end in a little more than a week. It's been the usual wild ride for the first month of 2026, as this is the time of year that I'm seen daily at Farmers Union getting ready to head somewhere for a winter sports broadcast.

Cardinals lose big lead late at D-V-E, fall to 4-5 record

After a close loss at North Border, the Langdon-Munich Cardinals looked to go back to their winning ways when they played in Crystal against Drayton- Valley-Edinburg on Jan. 20. The Cards had several double digit leads and still led by nine with just under two minutes left but lost 49-48. Langdon- Munich played at St. John on Jan. 22 then have a makeup game with Benson County in Munich on the afternoon of Jan. 24 with the varsity game starting around 2:30pm. In the week ahead, the Cards will host Thompson on Jan. 27. They are now 4-5 on the season.

EAGLES COME BACK TO BEAT CARDINALS IN DEFENSIVE BASKETBALL BATTLE

The Langdon-Munich Cardinals traveled to take on the North Border Eagles in the only meeting between the two teams this season, which was played in Walhalla on Jan. 13. In a game where defense was the key for both teams, the Eagles won the game, 51-46.

Ty Ramberg has two hat tricks and lights the lamp eight times on the weekend The Langdon Blades junior gold hockey team had their biggest home weekend of the year on Jan. 9-11, when they hosted Crosby, Watford City, and Richland for three North Dakota league games.
