Lady Cards split first two games of 2026 against Larimore, Thompson

After losing two holiday games in Minot to Our Redeemer's 52-46 on Dec. 29 then to a very good Class A South Prairie-Max team, 67-34, on Dec. 30, the Lady Cards started the 2026 portion of their schedule. They had two games: at Larimore on Jan. 2 and at home versus Thompson on Jan. 6. Langdon-Munich beat the Polar Bears 57-34 then lost to the Tommies 6139. The Cardinals are now 5-4 on the season and will play their first game of the season in Munich versus the St. John Woodchucks on Jan. 12. They then will head to Lakota to play Nelson County on Jan. 15.

Future Cardinal basketball players turned out for the recent Langdon Youth Basketball Skill Camp, which was in its fourth year. Grades kindergarten-3 met five Saturday mornings through Jan. 3 to learn and polish their basketball skills. Players got to show off what they learned at half time of Cardinals basketball games this week. Boys played on Monday and girls on Tuesday. Grades kindergarten and first grade played at halftime of the junior varsity games and second and third grade played at halftime of the varsity games.

The Langdon Blades Junior Gold hockey team played their first league road games of the season when they headed west to play the Crosby Comets, Richland Rangers and Watford City Oilers the weekend of Dec.19-21. The Blades lost to the Comets 3-1, defeated the Rangers 4-1, then lost to the Oilers 4-2. After the games, Langdon is 1-2 in the Junior Gold standings and are off until Jan. 2-4 when they play at a tournament in Moorhead, Minn.
