The North Border Eagles boys basketball team is coming off a State B tournament appearance from last season, where they took eighth place. The Eagles did get some bad news; junior Weston Cosley will be unable to play this year due to having surgery on a torn labrum in his shoulder, an injury that was suffered during high school football season this past fall.

Langdon-Munich makes it back to The first real snow of the season has arrived Well, it took a while this year, but the first real snow for our area came on Dec. 9. As we write on the evening of that day, it’s still coming down. I always marvel at the people that measure this stuff. Did we get three inches of snow, four inches, more? It’s hard to tell when things drift up, get moved around, etc. This is the first time the front end loaders, snowblowers and side by sides have been out in full force to clear everything. It’s never a good thing when an east wind comes to our area with the snow, as that seems to fill up the whole town. Let’s remember, this could have happened on Oct. 9 and stayed all winter. This snow does mean good things for the Frost Fire ski area, which is scheduled to open up this weekend and for our number one winter tourism draw - snowmobiling. Our dog, Bimbo, got his first real taste of snow, and he loved it until he didn’t. He and the rest of us will get used to it, too, as this won’t be the end of winter storms for 2025-26. Let’s just hope it’s not one after the other.
