Langdon-Munich makes it back to the Dakota Bowl for the first time since 2020 There is a lot of good news to relay this week starting with the Langdon-Munich Cardinals football team heading to the Dakota Bowl on Nov. 14 for the first time in five years. The Cards got back to the Fargodome after a huge win in the semifinals of the Class A 11-man playoffs, beating Velva-Garrison- Drake-Anamoose 36-16. This will be the Cards seventh appearance at the Dome to go with the years 2000, 2009, and 2017-20. Langdon- Munich won three straight titles in 2018-20 and will be looking for their fourth crown. The game starts at Noon, the same time that most of you get this paper.

A chilly but not horrible first day of November saw the Langdon-Munich Cardinals host the Hillsboro-Central Valley Burros in a quarterfinal game of the Class A 11-man football playoffs. The Cards came up with a big game on defense, getting their fourth shutout of the season, 25-0. Langdon-Munich is now 11-0 on the year and will host 10-1 Velva-Garrison-Drake-Anamoose in a semifinal game of the playoffs, Nov. 8 at 2:00pm in Langdon. The game can be heard on KNDK 1080, with a pregame show at 1:15. Cardinals football one step away from the Dakota Bowl for third straight year The Langdon-Munich Cardinals football team is, again, one game away from making it to the Dakota Bowl at the Fargodome. They defeated Hillsboro-Central Valley 25-0 in the Class 11-man quarterfinals and now are ready to host Velva-Garrison- Drake-Anamoose in the semis. That game with the Aggies will be at 2:00pm on Nov. 8 in Langdon. The Cards and Velva met last year, also in the semifinals, in Velva. The Aggies won that game on their way to a state title. The Cardinals have not been to the Dakota Bowl since 2020 (it's been five years already?!?) when they won their second state championship over Lisbon. They have been on the doorstep of another trip to the Fargodome now for three years in a row. It's not going to be any easy task to beat Velva, but this is what the team has been working hard for all season. They are healthy and ready to go in what should be a great game. If Langdon-Munich wins, they will advance to the Dakota Bowl and play around 12:00pm against the winner of Bottineau at Killdeer. Hear the game Saturday on KNDK AM 1080 and on the MyBorderland App. It's a big game, so we are putting it on the Big Stick!
