Langdon Post 98 Red Sox make it the State B the hard way As the majority of you read the paper this week, the 2025 State B American Legion Baseball Tourney is getting underway Aug. 1-5 at North Star Co-op Field in Park River. PR is very excited to host this event for the first time in history. Just as excited is the Langdon Post 98 Red Sox team, as they worked all the way back in the loser’s bracket to clinch a spot at the State B. The Red Sox knocked out three teams from the tourney along the wayin Larimore, Grafton and Midway-Minto. Mason Romfo hit for the cycle in the Larimore win, which is extremely rare feat in legion ball; it’s even rare for the major leagues.

A good time was had by all (well, most all) for Music Fest weekend Let’s begin this week by saying it was great to see all the people attend Music Fest events in Langdon. It was awesome to see many that don’t get to our area much anymore, and we hope everyone enjoyed their stay. I want to thank the Langdon Eagles Club for having our band, Hard Times, play on July 18. The crowd was overflowing all night, and even Sister Jan was there to do her best to rev up those in attendance. The Langdon Fireman’s supper served nearly 900, the Rendezvous Region Rod Run had a number of unique entries, and all of the Saturday activities went off without a hitch. I’m told that those that tried alligator from one of the many food trucks are still here to tell about it. Sunday at the Cavalier County Museum was also a special day (we have been told by many that the O’ Neill Family Band was fantastic!), and the threshing demos were fun to watch.

In a defensive battle from start to finish, the Pirates beat the Red Sox, 2-1. Langdon was still alive in the tourney at press time, as rains forced it to be postponed until July 23. The Sox played Larimore in a loser out game on that day then hoped to stay alive to play another loser out game later in the day. Langdon still hoped to advance to the State B American Legion Baseball Tournament, which will be held Aug. 1-5 at North Co-op Field in Park River.
