Eagles still alive, Cardinals season comes to an end at Region 2B BBB Tournament

The 2026 Region 2B Boys Basketball Tournament is happening at the Devils Lake Sports Center all this week, March 9-12. North Border and Langdon- Munich were both representing our readership area. They played each other in the opening round of the tourney, with the Eagles beating the Cardinals 54-38, in a game where the Cards scored just eight points in the first half. Langdon-Munich saw their season come to end with a record of 12-11. Tanner McDonald and Levi Swanson finished their Cardinals boys basketball careers.

Blades boys take second, girls sixth at state tournaments in Watford City

Six boys make Junior Hold All-State team, one for the 19U girls The State Junior Gold boys and 19U girls hockey tournaments were held in Watford City, March 5-8. The Langdon Blades boys were seeded second and won in the first round 7-3 over Watford City, won a thriller in overtime 3-2 against Richland, then lost to the Grand Forks Stallions, 4-2, in the championship game.

The end of the line for Tournament Time As the Grateful Dead used to say, “What a long, strange trip it’s been.” That’s what Tournament Time amounts to for 2026. We have run through wrestling, girls basketball, hockey, and now boys basketball in the last month.

Lady Cards guard Hilary Haaven makes Class B All-State basketball team

Munich freshman Hilary Haaven was recently named to the Class B All-State basketball team by the North Dakota High School Coaches Association. Haaven had a great year with the Langdon-Munich Cardinals girls basketball team. She finished the season scoring 14.1 points per game, 6.1 rebounds per contest, while also averaging four assists and 3.5 steals. Hilary was named to the All-State second team and just missed getting first team honors.
Ella Brekke has been named to the 2025-2026 All-State Team for the NDAHA 19U Girls' State Tournament. Ella is a sophomore and had another impressive season as the goalie for the 19U Girls' Blades hockey team - she had 750+ saves this season!
