We had another great turnout at Story Hour, with many kids joining us for a fun-filled event. Shaylegh Brown read My Mouth Is a Volcano, and the activity for the day was making bookmarks. Kids also enjoyed snacks of crackers, meat, cheese and grapes, so we made sure to fill their bellies. I was so busy I only managed to take two photos.

Leaders at Maple Manor Care Center are working to strengthen ties with the community by inviting local residents to get involved through a revived auxiliary group and open positions on the organization’s board of directors.

Hello from your friends at PNC! It is with both sadness and joy that I am announcing the retirement of one of our longest and much loved employees of PNC. Jean Hornung will retire at the end of April after 37 plus years of working here. If you would like to send her well wishes via a card, please mail them to PNC at 500 Delano Ave, Walhalla, ND, 58282. By the time you read this, we’ll be well into a countdown I’m not sure any of us truly feel ready for. Somehow, we’ve reached that point in the school year where the days are numbered just under 20 school days left - and the energy in our hallways reflects both excitement and a touch of disbelief.

Happy Spring… maybe? Even if it turns out to be another false spring, we did get a few beautiful days. Of course, Mother Nature wasn’t entirely on my side as we made the trek home Saturday night from the Sawyer Brown concert at Spirit Lake Casino.

We were sad to see February come to an end, as it marked the official retirement of Terry Henry from maintenance at Wheatland and Maple Manor. Even though he said “no” to any goodbye wishes, we all agreed he needed his own special cake decorated with a plunger and hammer. As we said our goodbyes, we gathered once again as a big family to thank him for being such an important piece of Wheatland’s story. We surely miss him, but it is time for him to start camping and traveling. Best wishes, Terry Henry, and thank you, again!

Students from Langdon Area High School celebrate prom April 11 during Langdon Area Prom, themed “Down the Rabbit Hole,” inspired by Alice in Wonderland. The evening featured creative décor, formal attire and plenty of dancing.
