Mass of Christian Burial was held July 12, 2025, in Langdon, N.D., for Thomas G. Kram, 90, of Langdon, who passed away on July 8, 2025, at Maple Manor Care Center in Langdon. Thomas G. Kram was born Nov. 27, 1934, in Langdon, N.D., to Samuel and Beatrice (Marcotte) Kram. He grew up in Dresden, N.D., where he attended grade school. After graduating from St. Alphonsus High School in Langdon, he attended North Dakota State University. Tom then returned to Langdon, where he farmed with his dad before taking over the farm. He was also a co-owner of the Premix Cement plant south of Langdon. Things he enjoyed were flying after obtaining his private license, playing blackjack, trips to the casino in Devils Lake, and his coin collection.

Benedict Henry Kartes was born on April 22, 1936, in Mount Carmel, N.D. He was the sixth of 12 children born to Frank and Olive Kartes. His brother, Lee Kartes of Colorado, is his last surviving sibling. Ben enjoyed his childhood on the farm, where he learned a strong work ethic and became a gifted mechanic. In 1959 he married the love of his life, Marie Ledoux, and they moved to SeaTac, Wash., to start a family of their own. With help from Marie’s dad, Ben built their home in 1962 and lived there for the rest of his days. Ben and Marie have two children, son Craig Kartes (Nancy) and daughter Kathi Adams (Don). They loved camping, fishing, large extended family gatherings and road trips, including going to N.D. to visit family.

A Celebration of Life was held April 19, 2025, in Great Falls, Mont., for Lorrayne Kathryn Zobrak, 88, who passed away peacefully on March 30, 2025, at Highgate Senior Living Center in Great Falls. Interment was at Union Cemetery in Osnabrock, N.D. Lorrayne was born March 23, 1937, in Osnabrock, N.D., to Fred and Kathryn (Haug) Poier. After graduating from Osnabrock High School, she earned her standard teaching certificate from Moorhead State and began her teaching career in Wolf Point, Mont. She met her husband, Ronald Zobrak, while he was stationed at Malmstrom AFB. They were married in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and spent many years living abroad in Italy, Germany, Taiwan, and various states across the U.S. as part of their Air Force life. Together, they raised three children: Rochelle, Ronald and Shawn.
